Minoru Kagenou has been obsessed with getting as strong as possible for as long as he can remember, which has driven him to engage in various forms of intense training. This urge does not arise from a desire to be noticed by others, but rather from Minoru’s desire to fit in with the throng. So, despite posing as a fully normal student during the day, he armed himself with a crowbar at night and viciously attacks local motorcycle gangs. But, when Minoru is injured in a truck accident, his goals seem to stop abruptly. In his closing moments, he laments his helplessness; regardless of how hard he practised, he was unable to escape his human limits.

Yet instead of passing away, Minoru reawakens in another world as Cid, the second child of the aristocratic Kagenou family, where magic is ubiquitous. With the authority he so desperately sought now within his grasp, he adopts the title “Shadow” and creates Shadow Garden, a group whose main aim is to oppose the mysterious Cult of Diablos, an organisation conceived by Cid. As Shadow Garden’s membership and influence increase, it becomes more evident that Cid’s conception of the Cult of Diablos was inaccurate.
